JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska - U.S. Army Sgt. Jacob Kallio, an infantryman assigned to B Co., 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division, raises his M249 Squad Automatic Weapon to the high-ready position during a situational training exercise on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, April 21, 2025, during the Alaska Army National Guard’s 207th Multi-Functional Training Regiment's Advanced Leader Course. Infantry ALC is a branch-specific course that provides Soldiers selected for promotion to staff sergeant the opportunity to hone the leadership and tactical skills needed to lead squad-size units. The course curriculum included Army operations, combat orders, land navigation, leadership, M4 carbine marksmanship training, machine gun training and squad tactics.
