JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska - An Alaska Air National Guard combat rescue officer assigned to the 212th Rescue Squadron stands ready to exit the open door of a C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the 144th Airlift Squadron April 10, 2025, during a training mission near Kodiak, Alaska. The pararescuemen of the AKANG’s 212th RQS, who are among the busiest combat search and rescue operators in the world, executed a low-landing jump from the C-17 into Chiniak Bay near Kodiak, Alaska, to conduct water personnel recovery and rescue training.
