The St. Simons Sound Incident Unified Command held an online media conference about a pause in operations on removing the motor vessel Golden Ray on July 24, 2020. Pausing the unprecedented removal operation allows the Unified Command to minimize combined COVID-19 and severe weather risks to current and future operations to ensure the safety of responders, the public and the surrounding environment.
