Operation Elk River Spill - Water Testing
130th Airlift Wing
Jan. 13, 2014 | 7:41
Members of the West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee and D.C. National Guards work with West Virginia state officials and members of West Virginia American Water in an effort to test the water system after a chemical spill left nine counties in the state without drinkable water. The interagency group developed a plan to collect and test samples of the water from the effective counties to ensure the safety of the water for its residents.
00:43:13 - Maj. Gen. James A. Hoyer, W.Va. National Guard Adjutant General and Mr. Jeff McIntyre, West Virginia American Water president, discuss plans to lift the water ban.
04:44:05 - Sgt. Michael T. Jones, preventative medical specialist with the 2nd Bn/19th SFG, and Staff Sgt. Justine R. White, public health technician with the 130th Airlift Wing, collects water samples in Sissonville, W.Va., with Mr. Jeffery W. Miller, a crew leader with West Virginia American Water.
