39th Anniversary of the Coast Guard Art Program
U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters
July 15, 2020 | 4:00
Washington, D.C. - Excited to celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the Coast Guard Art Program and the talented artists who capture the work of the Coast Guard. We thank them and the Salmagundi Club and the Navy League of the United States, New York Council for their invaluable support. Additionally, I am honored to announce this year's winner of the George Gray Award for Artistic Excellence. This is the program's highest honor-its best in show award. This year it goes to John Ward for his exceptional painting, "Rescue near Galveston." John, an artist and illustrator, recently retired after teaching high school art for over 30 years. His art has been used by more than 60 major publishers and he has received numerous awards. This marks the THIRD George Gray award John has received. Congratulations!
