Cattail Lake Monitoring and Restoration Project
Navy Public Affairs Support Element, Det. Northwest
April 14, 2021 | 2:04
Matt Ridgway, a Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Northwest biologist, and Jessie Rains, a Naval Base Kitsap biologist, highlight the monitoring and restoration efforts made at Cattail Lake on Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor over the course of 10 years. The project began in 2012 to reestablish forested wetlands, flowing streams and salt marsh habitat in the area. The most recent restoration effort included planting 9,000 trees to help increase vegetative diversity throughout the system. This project demonstrates the Navy's commitment to environmental stewardship responsibility. (U.S. Navy video by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Heather C. Wamsley)
