Package about Pacific Ocean (March 22, 2011) - Sailors and Marines assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) work with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to deliver humanitarian assistance/disaster relief supplies to areas of Japan affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Essex, USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and USS Germantown (LSD 42), with the embarked 31st MEU, are operating off the coast of Hachinohe, Japan, in support of Operation Tomodachi.
