A coalition aircraft destroyed an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) improvised explosive device near Sinjar, Iraq, Nov. 11, 2015. Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve conducted the strike in preparation for a Peshmerga offensive operation to retake Sinjar from Da’ish (an Arabic acronym for ISIL.) The operation also aimed to seize portions of Highway 47, a significant Da'ish supply route between Ar Raqqah, Syria, and Mosul, Iraq.
