103rd ESC Best Warrior Competition
103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)
Feb. 23, 2017 | 2:56
Twenty-one Soldiers assigned to units in the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) tested their warrior capabilities - vying for the title of the command's Best Warrior in the Enlisted and Non-Commissioned Officer categories for 2017.
The competitors hit the ground running after traveling to Camp Dodge, Iowa from their homes in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and surrounding states on Feb. 23, 2017. Prior to lights out, they completed their board appearances with a panel of Command Sergeants Major and senior non-commissioned officers and rotated through examination and essay stations.
Day two started with an Army Physical Fitness Test, with the competitors literally racing against the rain and wind in the darkness of early morning during their run event. The competitors rotated through several Army Warrior Task stations prior to conducting day and night land navigation during a grueling winter storm.
After completing weapons qualifications on the M9 pistol and M4 rifle, competitors quickly transitioned to their culminating event - the 10 kilometer ruck march, with the first competitor crossing the finish line at 1 hour 3 minutes and 58 seconds.
The winners of the competition were announced during an awards ceremony on Feb. 26, 2017. Spc. Jacob Prokosch earned the title of Best Warrior - Enlisted Category and Sgt. Kenneth Miller earned the title of Best Warrior - Non-Commissioned Officer Category. The two will progress to the next higher competition hosted by the 377th Theater Sustainment Command in April of this year.
