Illinois National Guard opens its 7th COVID-19 Testing Site in East St. Louis
139th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
May 6, 2020 | 3:57
he Illinois National Guard has opened its seventh COVID-19 testing site at the Jackie Joyner Kersee Community Center in East St. Louis, Illinois, May 6. The center hosts the Guard’s first Walk-In testing station where residents who do not have a vehicle can walk to the site and get tested for the virus.
The 5th WMD Civil Support Team based in Bartonville, Illinois, assisted in creating a station that keeps patients safe from the risks of contracting the virus while testing, as well as to protect Soldiers and Airmen administering the tests. The traditional drive thru method is also available. Drivers must enter from Lynch Ave while walk-in patients may come in through the bus area entrance.
The walk-in options expands the capability in COVID-19 testing and ensures residents of the St. Clair County community and have additional options available to get tested.
The site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until 500 tests have been completed.
