USACE Installs final Blue Roofs
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pacific Ocean Division
Nov. 1, 2021 | 0:50
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is completing installation of the final blue roofs in the New Orleans area Monday. Over 33,700 blue roofs have been installed throughout 25 parishes in southern Louisiana.
USACE Hurricane Ida Response Commander Col. Zachary Miller provides an update on the installation from one of the last homes to receive a blue roof.
The USACE Operation Blue Roof program aims to provide homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until permanent repairs are made. This program is a free service to homeowners and protects property, reduces temporary housing costs, and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from a storm. The deadline to apply for this service expired on Oct. 15.
