The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Indiana Department of Workforce Development partnered together to provide a Multi-Purpose Center and Readiness Center for Afghan guests to gather for indoor-led activities and workshops as part of Operations Allies Welcome at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Nov. 18, 2021. Activities provided at the Multi-Purpose Center and Readiness Center include art and crafts, English courses, exercise, computer labs, and board games. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities in permanent or temporary structures as quickly as possible.
