2018 ARNG Best Warrior Competition Closing Ceremony

The 2018 Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition concluded with a closing ceremony at Fort Indiantown Gap July 27, in which the 14 competing Soldiers were honored for persevering through a week full of physically and mentally demanding challenges. Winners of the competition were Kentucky Army National Guard Sgt. Jordy Brewer (NCO of the Year board) and South Dakota Army National Guard Spc. Bailey Ruff (Soldier of the Year board). Both were honored with various awards and gifts during the ceremony. Other competitors also received a challenge coin to remember the experience of the competition. Ceremony speakers included Fort Indiantown Gap Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Buck (MC), Maj. Gen. Anthony Carrelli, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general, Command Sgt. Maj. John Sampa, CSM of the Army National Guard, and Command Sgt. Maj. Harry Buchanan, Pennsylvania’s senior enlisted advisor. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf also congratulated the competitors in a video played during the ceremony. The ceremony was followed by a catered meal and a meet-and-greet with the competing Soldiers.
