Dr. Rajesh Naik, Chief Scientist of AFRL's 711th Human Performance Wing, outlines the 711 HPW team's dynamic response to COVID-19. With over 70 disciplines in the 711 HPW —from medical professionals to engineers, computational scientists, bio-chemists— multidisciplinary teams pulled together to address the challenges of the nation and Department of Defense. AFRL and the 711 HPW were asked to support Operation Warped Speed and many other COVID-19 efforts. The team explored R&D solutions for diagnostics, decontamination, patient movement and beyond. The 711 HPW's alignment to the line of the Air Force and functional alignment to the Surgeon General provided a unique space to address urgent needs.
