FEMA Allocates $579,000 for Restoration of Historic Public Squares in Puerto Rico

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico, July 2, 2020 - FEMA Approves Funds to Repair Public Squares in Puerto Rico. Some $579,000 is the basis for the restoration of these historic spaces in 13 municipalities across the island. Among the public plazas to be repaired are: $103,000 for the Placita de la Recordación and the José A. Busigó Public Plaza in Sabana Grande. $65,000 for the Plaza de Recreo Ramón Emeterio Betances y Alacán in Cabo Rojo. $26,000 for the Francisco M. Zeno Public Plaza in the municipality of Cidra. The municipalities that also received obligations to repair their recreational plazas are: Arroyo, Barranquitas, Carolina, Cataño, Dorado, Naguabo, Orocovis, Patillas, Rincón and Vieques. FEMA is working with COR3 through the federal agency's Public Assistance program to obligate recovery funds to private nonprofit organizations, municipalities and Puerto Rico government agencies for expenses related to Hurricanes Irma and Maria.FEMA/Eduardo Martinez
