The Alaska National Guard carried on its holiday tradition of conducting Operation Santa Claus throughout the month of November 2022. In its 67th year, Operation Santa Claus delivered 3,850 pounds of gifts and countless smiles to 581 children in Scammon Bay, Minto and Nuiqsut. The operation is possible through the 53-year partnership with the Salvation Army and community partners who donate, help wrap gifts and spend hours personalizing each child’s gift with a holiday card.

As part of the Alaska Organized Militia, more than 130 Guardsmen from the Alaska Air and Army National Guard deployed across the western coast to help communities recover from storm damage and severe flooding. More than 130 members of the Alaska Organized Militia, which includes members of the Alaska National Guard, Alaska State Defense Force and Alaska Naval Militia, were activated following a disaster declaration issued Sept. 17 after the remnants of Typhoon Merbok caused dramatic flooding across more than 1,000 miles of Alaskan coastline.

Gobi Wolf 2022 is a six-day disaster response exercise and exchange between the government of Mongolia and U.S. Army Pacific focused on interagency coordination. The Mongolia National Emergency Management Agency hosts the exercise with support from Mongolian Armed Forces. Other participants include the nations of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, and the United Kingdom.
